Thanks to all 23 anglers that showed up in the terrible weather
conditions, (22-26 mph winds). Only 3 fish
weighed in for tournament .
Speckle Trout Winner- Jarred Marquar “1.2 lbs.”

The purpose of this tournament was to provide brood stock for
the Spotted Seatrout Population Enhancement Cooperative (SPEC)
Trout hatchery in Ocean Springs
(WWW.DMR.STATE.MS.US/SPEC/SPEC.HTM)
and will allow fingerlings to be turned into the wild in the
from this brood stock, possibly as soon as next fall.

In the future we will have a Tag and Release
Tournament.
There is a real need to tag
Triple Tail and other species Tagging Kits are
available at the GCRL.
Hurricane Katrina provided us an opportunity to
give back to the community, and the environment.

March Meeting of CCA at Lakeshore Body Shop,
The March CCA meeting was held at Lakeshore Body shop on
Ernie Zimmerman, our chapter president, showed us the new trailer we purchased to help hold all our equipment. It will be a great asset for us to use.
Ernie introduced David Wells, the State CCA President.
David then told us about some pretty exciting Inshore and offshore fishing tournament that is coming up this June 1st and 2nd. Inshore specks and reds and offshore will be cobia and King Mackrel. It will be sponsored by the Island Casino, Walmart, SunHerald, West Marine. Congressman Gene Taylor will be involved as well as DMR.
Ernie then introduced the Dr. F.J Eicke the Ms CCA Chairman of the Board.
Dr. Eicke talked about the excitement CCA National has for CCA Ms and in particular the Bay Chapter. Other chapters are using what we do as a model of what needs to be done. CCA now is statewide from north Ms to south Ms.
Dr. Eicke talked about the CCA Conservation fund that will help us all in our conservation efforts in Ms.
